Translations from the English [into German] of some of the poems of George Sylvester Viereck, and carbon letter to Upton Sinclair, 1910-1937.

The collection contains a bound volume (58 p.) of typescripts of thirty-seven of Viereck's poems translated into German by Udo Brachvogel, Martin Drescher, Hanns Heinz Ewers, and Rudolph Kommer, many originally published in English in The Candle and the flame (New York: Moffat, Yard and Company, 1912). Viereck identified the specific translator of most of the poems in pencil, and added notes in corrections. Also, includes a signed carbon typescript letter from Viereck to Upton Sinclair, 28 September 1937, defending his pro-German stance.

Upton Sinclair was born in Baltimore, Maryland in 1878. Sinclair was an American author, novelist, journalist, and political activist who wrote many books in several genres.
